Googles premium device, Chromecast Ultra, costs 65, which is substantially lower than the Roku Ultra price point but more expensive than all the other Roku. Sync issues? I need to test more, but Spotify podcasts are consistently out of audio sync, and I don't think this was an issue on the Ultra.ĭoes my experience match that of anyone else? Or are there any tips to fix these issues? For the apps that do cast, it takes many more seconds to make the connection and load the content. Almost two years ago, both companies were involved in a highly-publicized dispute regarding the availability of YouTube and YouTube TV on Roku devices - and while it was eventually solved without disruption of service for Roku users, Google was almost about to pull those apps from the platform. Some apps are more reliable than others (YouTube?), Others requires multiple attempts each time (Spotify), and others still flat out do not work (Netflix). I really liked finding app and title on my phone and casting it to the CC. At £59.99/49.99 for the Roku Streaming Stick+ and £59/50 for the Chromecast with Google TV, these streamers are evenly matched in terms of price. Only a handful of Roku channels support this feature, but its much more commonly supported in Chromecast. Roku Ultra is the ultimate streaming player, fully loaded with all of our best. So I got a w/ Google TV model to see if it had the reboot issue and instead found the overall experience to be notably worse in several ways. It happens to every CC Ultra afaik, most ppl just never notice cuz they're asleep / doesn't reboot when you're using it. HDR10+ uses dynamic metadata so that each frame can have its own settings for contrast, brightness, and colors, which results in lifelike images. I've had a CC Ultra for ~2 years, no complaints except for the extremely frustrating nightly reboot it performs and Google is 100% incapable of addressing.
